'Contemporary Outsider Art : The Global Context' Conference

From 23 - 26 October, The University of Melbourne and Arts Project Australia will host Contemporary Outsider Art : The Global Context, an international conference investigating the interdisciplinary field of 'Outsider Art'. An exciting programme of associated exhibitions, films and events will be held at prominent venues across Melbourne.

Greg Semu featured in The Contemporary Pacific - A Journal of Island Affairs by The University of Hawai’i

In conjunction with Alcaston Gallery and the University of Hawai'i, GREG SEMU's photographs from his 2010 series Body on the Line, Cultural Warriors have been published in a book and electronic journal - the Special Issue of The Contemporary Pacific - a Journal of Island Affairs, 'Global Sport in the Pacific', Volume 26, Number 2, 2014. This series captured former and current NRL players of South Pacific and Maori heritage. By featuring familiar, contemporary sports figures adorned in traditional attire the artist promotes, celebrates and nurtures cultural awareness, provoking health and fitness issues and a marriage between the world of art and sport whilst developing relationships with ethnic minorities and mainstream Australia.

SALLY GABORI ON EXHIBITION AT QUEENSLAND ART GALLERY | GALLERY OF MODERN ART

A major artwork by acclaimed Queensland artist SALLY GABORI, Dibirdibi Country 2012 has been acquired by the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art.

This magnificent four-panel painting is installed on the QAG ground floor alongside a stunning installation of magnetic tape and painted wood panel sculpture by Zilvinas Kempinas, Columns 2006.

NAOMI HOBSON FEATURED IN THE AUSTRALIAN

Queensland artist Naomi Hobson has been featured in the article Twin streams to the heart of artist’s world by Nicolas Rothwell in the Australian newspaper's Arts Section, Thursday 2 October 2014.

Naomi Hobson was recently a finalist in the prestigious 2014 Telstra Art Award, with her artwork being acquired by the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, Darwin. Her artwork has also been acquired by the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, the US Consul General, Brisbane and the Honorable Tony Abbott MP, Prime Minister of Australia Collection.

Exhibition Opening - Naomi Hobson and the Hermannsburg Potters
