Major forthcoming Emily Kame Kngwarreye exhibition at The National Gallery Of Australia, Canberra 

Renowned for her unique depictions of Country and energetic interpretations of ancient traditions, Anmatyerre artist the late Emily Kame Kngwarreye (c. 1910 - 1996) was one of the most significant Indigenous Australian contemporary women painters in the later part of the 20th century. This major survey exhibition brings together the most important works from her artistic oeuvre, from her early, vibrant batiks to her later monumental paintings on canvas.

Alcaston Gallery is excited to announce that our artists Nellie Ngampa Coulthard & Maringka Burton have been announced FINALISTS for the significant $100,000 acquisitive Australian landscape prize presented by the Hadley’s Orient Hotel in Hobart, Tasmania.

Alcaston Gallery is thrilled to announce that our artists Shirley Macnamara, Barbara Mbitjana Moore and Yaritji Tingila Young have been announced FINALISTS for this year’s Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award (NATSIAA).

NATSIAA is the longest-running and most prestigious Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award. The finalist exhibition presents the richness and diversity of current contemporary Indigenous artistic practice, and the pre-eminence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, nationwide, within the visual arts. 

Alcaston Gallery wishes thank and farewell Barry Keldoulis, who after ten years will be resigning from his role as Fair Director of Sydney Contemporary. Having exhibited at Sydney Contemporary since its inaugural fair in 2013, Alcaston Gallery has taken this journey with Barry and experienced the growth and development of Sydney Contemporary over the past decade under his innovative direction, placing the fair on the world stage and arguably, making it one of the best art fairs in Australia. We wish Barry all the best for his future endeavours!
