Alcaston Gallery is proud to announce that Angela Tiatia has been selected as one of ten finalists for the 2016 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (Emerging). This is the second consecutive year that Tiatia has been selected as a finalist for this prestigious program run by Artspace and Arts NSW, which involves a three month curatorial development program overseen by Artspace Executive Director Alexie Glass-Kantor and Curator Talia Linz. The finalist exhibition will be opened on Tuesday 8 November at Artspace, and will run until 10 December 2016.

ALCASTON GALLERY CELEBRATING NAIDOC WEEK AT THE CSIRO

Alcaston Gallery is delighted to celebrate NAIDOC week this year at the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) by bringing to their Clayton premises a fine selection of artwork that celebrates the rich diversity and exceptional talent of the contemporary Indigenous artists curated by Alcaston Gallery. These artists include: the late Sally Gabori, Netta Loogatha, Hector Burton, Nonggirrnga Marawili, the late Eubena Nampitjin, the late Martin Tjampitjinpa, Naomi Hobson, Mick Wikilyiri and Jaye Early.

The major retrospective of work by the late Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori (c.1924 – 11 February 2015) was officially opened last night at the Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane.

The exhibition celebrates the life and legacy of the senior Kaiadilt artist from Bentinck Island in Queensland's Gulf of Carpentaria.
