Opening Event: Dena Ashbolt - Witnessing Time and Tjala Men -Nganampa Ngura, Nganampa Tjukurpa - Our Country, Our Culture

On Thursday 1st August 2013 Alcaston Gallery held the opening event for new exhibitions by DENA ASHBOLT and TJALA MEN. It was our great pleasure to have DENA ASHBOLT officially launch her second solo exhibition and to once again be exhibiting the amazing works from the TJALA MEN - HECTOR BURTON, RAY KEN, MICK WIKILYIRI,KUNMANARA ROBERTS, ROBERT BURTON and STANLEY WINDY.

The Age features Naomi Hobson exhibition

Opening Event: Naomi Hobson - I am Yikan

On Wednesday 12th June 2013 Alcaston Gallery held the opening event for the first solo exhibition by NAOMI HOBSON. It was our great honour to have the exhibition officially launched by Mr Noel Pearson, Lawyer, Academic, Land Rights activist and Founder of the Cape York Institute for Policy and Leadership and The Honorable Tony Burke MP, Member for Watson, Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities & Minister for the Arts. Approximately 80 people braved the cold weather to view new paintings by this talented artist from Lockhart River, QLD.

Special Event: Ms Yunpingu - Woman of Fire - A Tribute

Alcaston Gallery held a special event on Saturday 8 June 2013 to celebrate the life and art of MS YUNUPINGU. KADE MCDONALD, Art Co-ordinator from Buku-Larrngay Mulka paid tribute to Ms Yunupingu. Kade spoke beautifully about Ms Yunupingu and the fond memories he has of working alongside the Woman of Fire.
