Conversation: Greg Semu and Leo Tanoi

Alcaston Gallery hosted a highly successful event at Stand C101, where Artist Greg Semu and Creative Producer, Pacific Programs at Casula Powerhouse Arts Museum and former NRL player Leo Tanoi spoke as part of the VIP Program at the inaugural Sydney Contemporary 13. VIP guests and art lovers alike were enthralled by the talk which focused on the art of Greg Semu and issues surrounding contemporary Pacific arts.

Congratulations to Rhonda Unrupa Dick from Tjala Arts in Amata, APY Lands, South Australia who has been awarded the WINNER of Point, Click, Capture, Upload, Tag #AFL #Footy #Ilovethisgame Essendon Football Club and Alcaston Gallery Photographic Competition for her entry Panel 1 (from the series, Red and Black Represent) by Essendon Bombers superstar and competition judge Patrick Ryder. Rhonda will receive $1,000 cash prize and a personalised Essendon Bombers guernsey signed by all the players in the 2013 Essendon Football Club team.

Hector Burton finalist in the Kate Challis RAKA Award

Hector Burton is a finalist in the Kate Challis RAKA Award currently on display at The Ian Potter Museum of Art. The award was established in 1988 by the late Professor Emeritus Bernard Smith, eminent art and cultural historian to honour the memory of his late wife, Kate Challis. The annual Award has been instrumental in assisting the development of Indigenous writers, performers, film-makers, poets and visual artists. The award features nine of the most exciting contemporary Indigenous artists working today. Mabel Juli from Warmun Art Centre was announced as the winner of the prestigious prize.
