WILLIE GUDABI & MOIMA WILLIE: STORIES FROM THE COX AND ROPER RIVERS - AN ARCHIVE SURVEY

Alcaston Gallery is thrilled to present an archive exhibition of rare, collaborative paintings by the late Willie Gudabi and his late wife Moima Willie. These extraordinary, vibrant paintings can be read as traditional maps, depicting elaborate stories about circumcision and mortuary ceremonies, love songs and animal law. Each composition is populated with events and iconography, usually involving several interwoven narratives, reminding us that time is a cultural concept. The past underlies and is within the present – all time is bound up into the eternal now of the Dreaming.
