VALE | Ms D Yunupiŋu (1949 - 2026)
Beverly and Anthony Knight, Adriana Del Medico and the team at Alcaston Gallery sadly mourn the passing of Ms D Yunupiŋu, a highly respected senior Yolŋu artist and elder who leaves such an immense artistic and cultural legacy.
An artist of great significance, who emanated strength, courage and resilience, which radiates through the unique artistic gift that she offered to the world.
Her art was loved and appreciated by collectors, curators and art lovers alike and her presence as a truly singular artist and woman will be missed by all. In this difficult time we are comforted now by the incredible legacy left by the Yunupiŋu sisters and brothers.

NOW OPEN | I AM: ABORIGINAL ART FROM THE STATE ART COLLECTION, ART GALLERY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA, PERTH
Currently presented at the Art Gallery of Western Australia until 24 October 2026, I AM, draws upon the State Art Collection to celebrate the depth, diversity and creative strength of Aboriginal art and culture. Curated by Carly Lane, AGWA Curator Indigenous Art | Head of Indigenous Programs, the exhibition brings together over 60 works by First Nations Artists from across Australia, including Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori (c.1924-2015), Ms B. Yunupiŋu (1948-2012) and Ms. G. Yunupiŋu (c.1945-2012).
MELBOURNE ART FAIR 2026 | RE-CAP
Another successful Melbourne Art Fair has been and gone! This year we were proud to present three outstanding Pintupi artists in collaboration with Papunya Tula Artists, Ray James Tjangala, Bobby West Tjupurrula and Adrian Jurra Tjungurrayi, alongside an excluclusive release from the estate of Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori (c.1924-2015). This exceptional body of work included sculptural works - a landmark first for Bobby West and Papunya Tula Artists - and a poingnant documentary film directed by Pin Rada, documenting Bobby West's return to Country. At the booth we were proud to host a number of talks and tours, including Artist Talks by Tania Major and Sean Hill, whose work was concurrently presented at the Alcaston Gallery Exhibition Space.

CLAUDIA MOODOONUTHI IN WASHINGTON DC, USA!
Recently, Claudia Moodoonuthi was invited by the prestigious National Gallery of Art, Washington DC to participate in the exhibition's Artist Talk series, in celebration of the National Gallery of Victoria’s groundbreadking touring exhibition The Stars We Do Not See: Australian Indigenous Art, curated by Myles Russel Cook.
Joined by artist Alick Tipoti, Claudia Moodoonuthi had an insightful conversation moderated by Dr Jessica Clark, senior curator of First Nations Art at the National Gallery of Victoria, where they discussed their unique creative practices and revelations from this landmark exhibition.
