MAJOR EXTERNAL EXHIBITION | BRUSH: WOMEN PAINTERS, CAIRNS ART GALLERY, QUEENSLAND
Presented at Cairns Art Gallery from 27 June - 4 October 2026, Brush: Women Painters showcases eight exceptional women painters who have each carved a unique position within the landscape of Australian painting. Incuded in the exhibition are three powerful senior Kaiadilt women: Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori (c.1924-2015) Birrmuyingathi Maali Netta Loogatha (c.1942-2022) and Thundiyingathi Bijarrb May Moodoonuthi (c.1929-2008).
NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK 2026 | 'ALL IN FOR RECONCILIATION'
From 27 May - 3 June 2026, National Reconciliation Week gives national focus to the importance of strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians. This year's theme for Reconciliation week is 'All in for Reconciliation' - a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to Reconciliation every single day.
NOW OPEN | RISING VOICES: CONTEMPORARY ART FROM ASIA, AUSTRALIA AND THE PACIFIC
Presented until 10 January 2027, Rising Voices: Contemporary Art from Asia, Australia and the Pacific at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London is a landmark collaboration between the V&A and Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art. This incredible exibition, which spotlights the dynamic contemorary art landscape of the Asia Pacific, features Alcaston Gallery represented artist Shirley Macnamara amongst the best creative practictioners of the region assembled in the region.
CONGRATULATIONS TO BINYGURR WIRRPANDA | NATSIAAS FINALIST 2026
Chairman of Buku-Larrŋgay Mulka Binygurr Wirrpanda has been announced as a finalist in the 2026 Telstra NATSIAAs - his second inclusion in the prize!
Now in its 43rd year, the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSIAA) is Australia’s longest-running and most prestigious art award of its kind. We would also like to extend our congratulations to all finalists selected for this year’s NATSIAAs, selected by the esteemed judging panel: Gail Mabo, Dean Greeno and Dr Shannon Brett.
The NATSIAA 2026 finalist exhibition opens 27 June, with the awards ceremony to be held 7 August.
