On Saturday 20 September Betty Kuntiwa Pumani travelled from Mimili, South Australia with fellow artist Tuppy Goodwin to Bundanon Art Museum in Shoalhaven, New South Wales for a rare public speaking engagement in celebration of her in first major solo survey exhibition, maḻatja-maḻatja (those who come after).

Pumani was joined in conversation by exhibition curator and Bundanon CEO Rachel Kent and representatives of Mimili Maku Arts for a vital panel discussion on the role of Aboriginal art centres as places of ongoing creation, intergenerational storytelling and cultural and custodial care for Country. An important and well - attended event!

maḻatja-maḻatja (those who come after) is presented until 5 October 2025 at Bundanon Art Museum. This outstanding exhibition includes a specially commissioned large-scale painting as well as major loans from public and private galleries, including the National Gallery of Australia. A body of work thirteen years in the making, we highly recommend you visit before the exhibition ends!

Curated by Erin Vink, Curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art, AGNSW, High Colour is an immersive exploration of local and global Indigenous perspectives on colour. For the artists included in this exhibition, colour is identity, belonging, history and inheritance. 

This significant exhibition is the gallery's first to consider its First Nations collection within global Indigenous curatorial discourse and includes the major works, Dibirdibi Country, 2010, by Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori (c.1924-2015), and Doctor Who, 2016, by Tiger Yaltangki (1973-2024).

The Alcaston Gallery team were thrilled to attend the opening of Tania Major's first institutional solo exhibition, Kowanyama - When Rain Falls, When Earth Sleeps, presented at Cairns Art Gallery. This is a landmark career achievement, and follows a sell-out debut exhibition at Alcaston Gallery in 2024, cementing Major's position as a rising star of contemporary art. We were proud to celebrate this important career achievement and exceptional exhibition with the artist.

Presented until 23 November, Kowanyama - When Rain Falls, When Earth Sleeps is a powerful testimony of the profound connection Major holds to her ancestral Country of Kowanyama on Cape York Peninsula.

Alcaston Gallery Director Beverly Knight and the Alcaston Gallery curators were proud to attend the opening of Cairns Art Gallery's major solo exhibition by Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori (c.1924-2015), Mundamurra Ngijinda Dulk - My Island Home. It was wonderful to celebrate the opening of this exhibition - Gabori's first in the region - with members of the Gabori family, esteemed guests and art-lovers.

Presented until 30 November, this marks Cairns Art Gallery's 30 year celebrations and includes significant works on loan from HoTA, QAGoMA, Townsville Art Gallery and major private collections.

Thank you to all who visited the Alcaston Gallery Booth G01 at Sydney Contemporary 2025. The fair is always a highlight of the Australian art calendar and this year's Sydney Contemporary was no exception. It was a pleasure to connect with collectors, visitors, artists and colleagues for another wonderful week of contemporary art.

This year we were delighted to present work by three outstanding First Nations artists: Tiger Yaltangki (1973-2024), Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori (c.1924-2015) and Betty Kuntiwa Pumani. We were proud to share this powerful presentation, which recieved such an enthusiastic response from collectors and visitors alike. It is an honour to share the work of these incredible artists with audiences in the real.
