The Stars We Do Not See: Australian Indigenous Art, the largest exhibition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art to ever be presented internationally, will showcase a rich display of iconic masterpieces and highlight the diverse and distinct visual iconographies of Indigenous Australia. This landmark exhibition will begin at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, and will then tour to venues in North America, including Denver Art Museum, Colorado; Portland Art Museum, Oregon; Peabody Essex Museum, Massachusetts; and the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Canada.

The 5th National Indigenous Art Triennial: After the Rain features 10 large-scale, immersive and multidisciplinary installations that celebrate intergenerational legacies and cultural warriors of the past, present and future. Artistic Director Tony Albert weaves together projects by Alair Pambegan, Aretha Brown, Blaklash, Dylan Mooney, Hermannsburg Potters, Iltja Ntjarra Art Centre and Vincent Namatjira, Jimmy John Thaiday, Naminapu Maymuru-White, Thea Anamara Perkins, Yarrenyty Arltere Artists and Grace Kemarre Robinya, and Warraba Weatherall.
NOW OPEN | HERMANNSBURG, NATIONAL GALLERY OF AUSTRALIA, CANBERRA
Hermannsburg, presented from 11 October 2025 - 23 August 2026 at the National Gallery of Australia, showcases the enduring legacy of The Hermannsburg School - an art movement pioneered by Western Arrarnta artist Albert Namatjira (1902–1959).
Namatjira inspired his contemporaries and generations of descendants to take up watercolour painting. In the near seven decades since his untimely passing, his influence continues to strongly inform contemporary Aboriginal art. The Hermannsburg School is a vital and enduring testament to the continuity and cultural heritage of Aboriginal artists living and working in and around the Ntaria/Hermannsburg region.
