SHIRLEY MACNAMARA IN BIG SCULPTURE TOURING EXHIBITION | LOGAN ART GALLERY, QUEENSLAND UNTIL 22 MARCH 2025
In 2022 Macnamara was a finalist in the 2022 Cairns Indigenous Art Fair’s inaugural Big Sculpture Showcase project where she presented the largest sculpture of her career, Through the Gidgea and Gum Trees. Over Spinifex Ridges and Black Soil Plains. Interwoven with horseshoes, horsehair, spinifex, ochre, steel and copper wire, the work is an embodiment of the dry yet beautiful country of northwest Queensland.
In 2024 Macnamara’s sculpture, Through the Gidgea and Gum Trees. Over Spinifex Ridges and Black Soil Plains, was selected as a feature work of CIAF’s Big Sculpture Showcase touring exhibition. The exhibition opened at the Brisbane Powerhouse for the Brisbane Festival in September 2024 and is currently touring regional Queensland.
Logan Art Gallery will be the exhibition's latest destination, running from 31 January - 22 March 2025.
SALLY GABORI : ARTIST ROOM | NGV AUSTRALIA: IAN POTTER CENTRE, MELBOURNE | FROM 10 APRIL 2024
On view from February at the NGV Australia: Ian Potter Centre is the Sally Gabori Artist Room. This curated exhibition will feature key works from the NGV Collection by the late Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori (c.1924-2015) - widely regarded as one of the most significant Australian contemporary artists of our time.
