Greg Semu exhibits at the 2014 Daegu Photo Biennale

GREG SEMU'S  important photographic series The Last Cannibal Supper, Cause Tomorrow We Become Christians will be included in the major exhibition entitled 'Origins, Memories & Parodies' at this year's Daegu Photo Biennale in Korea.

The exhibition profiles the work of 32 artists from 18 countries who engage with the origins of photography, the memories evoked and preserved through this medium, and the role of photography in reinterpreting history.

Origins, Memories & Parodies will run from 12 September - 19 October 2014 at the Daegu Culture & Arts Centre in Korea.

Greg Semu joined the stable of artists at Alcaston Gallery in 2013. Semu’s artworks have been collected by major national and international institutions worldwide. In 2014 Greg Semu was awarded a Creative New Zealand month-long residency in the Cook Islands, and the 2014-2015 year long residency at the Kunstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin.

Jenny Crompton wins 2014 Deadly Art Award

Congratulations to JENNY CROMPTON, winner of the 2014 Deadly Art Award at the Victorian Indigenous Art Awards. 

The $30,000 art prize is the richest Indigenous Art Award in the state. Crompton took the prize with her installation of found objects titled 'Gathering at Godocut'. The award was presented on Saturday 23 August with a ceremony at the Art Gallery of Ballarat.

'Tino i le Vā - Bodies in the Space' featured in The Age

Alcaston Gallery's major group exhibition Tino i le Vā - Bodies in the Space has featured in the Age Entertainment section, Friday 22-8-14.

Curated by Jacob Tolo, Tino i le Vā presents a survey of new media artwork by Pacific artists working in Australia today. Participating artists include Greg Semu, Angela Tiatia, Eric Bridgeman, Naup Waup, Kirsten Lyttle, Chantal Fraser, Salote Tawale, and Lisa Taouma & Mario Faumui.

GREG SEMU & ANGELA TIATIA FEATURED IN ART COLLECTOR'S MELBOURNE ART FAIR MAGAZINE

Tino i le Vā - Bodies in the Space | Exhibition Opening

On Saturday 16 August, Alcaston Galllery officially launched Tino i le Vā - Bodies in the Space, curated by Jacob Tolo. The exhibition of new media artworks created by Ausrtalian-Pacific artists was opened with music and dance performances by Amanaki Prescott-Faletau, and ANIVA.
