The exhibition featured work by some of the most senior and important men at Tjungu Palya who have the authority to paint many stories associated with their country, including Bernard Tjalkuri, who was a finalist this year at the 28th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award, and Keith Stevens, who was a finalist at the Togart Contemporary Art Award in 2011.
The exhibition also showcases work by Ian Roberts and David Miller, whose paintings feature prominently in both public institutions and private collections, and introduces stunning work by emerging artists Jimmy Pompey and Sammy Lyons.
And last, but not least, paintings by esteemed elder Tiger Palpatja, who this year was finalist in the 28th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award, Western Australian Indigenous Art Award and Togart Contemporary Art Award, and whose work was recently acquired by the National Gallery of Australia. |
