Sally Gabori was named as a finalist in the The Blake Prize 2011, this year marking the 60th anniversary of the award.
The Blake Prize, established in 1951, is an open art prize that challenges artists to explore the religious and spiritual in art. It is open to all faiths, artistic styles and media.
Sally Gabori's entry Dibirdibi Country 2011 (pictured) was selected amongst a total of 72 finalists, from over 1,100 entries.
This is my Husbands country on Bentinck Island. I lived here with him until we were forced to go to Mornington Island. I paint his country as it’s the only way I can see it now, in my mind, in my heart, in my painting. It means everything to me. It is who I am.
