Alcaston Gallery is excited to present Pedro Wonaeamirri’s sixth solo exhibition, in conjunction with Jilamara Arts & Crafts, Northern Territory.
This body of work confirms this exciting young artist as the leading Tiwi artist of his generation. Including carved figurers, Pukumani poles and paintings on linen, it is a showcase for both the strength and the breadth of Pedro’s skill as a contemporary artist.
Pedro Wonaeamirri is an active artist and long established member of Jilamara Arts and Crafts Aboriginal Association at Milikapiti, Melville Island, Northern Territory. Alcaston Gallery Director, Beverly Knight, has worked with the Jilamara Art & Crafts group since their inception in 1989 and exhibited works by Pedro Wonaeamirri since 1991.
Pedro Wonaeamirri’s work has recently been included in major exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Art Gallery of South Australia, National Gallery of Victoria and Queensland Art Gallery.
